Melbourne’s Sporting Precinct

????????
One of the things Melbourne is most famous for is as the capital of sport in Australia. Within a fifteen minute walk of the CBD, on the eastern side, we have what is known as the Sporting precinct. We have the MCG (home of Aussie Rules footy), National Tennis Centre (home of the Australian Tennis Open), Olympic Park (where the Oympics were held in 1956) and AAMI park (home of Melbourne Victory soccer team and Melbourne Storm Rugby League team).

On Saturday we caught a train into the city, walked to Myer in Bourke St then back to Flinders St and to Hosier Lane. From there we started walking to AAMI Park to watch Melbourne Victory play. We saw some steps that lead to a walkway to the MCG so decided to walk up there because we hadn’t been up there before. I turned around and took some photos looking back to the CBD over Birrarung Marr where they were setting up for the filming of the Ellen show today.

The MCG sits in the middle of Yarra Park, a beautiful green space on the edge of the city.
