June is birthday month for one of my friends. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you’ll know that she and I like to go to 5-star restaurants to celebrate our birthdays. This year she chose Nobu which is in the Crown Entertainment precinct (we don’t call it Crown Casino these days, that seems to have negative connotations). It’s one of the big name restaurants on the Riverwalk opposite the Aquarium. We chose to sit inside because, well it was the first day of winter and Melbourne had just had record rainfall in the previous 12 hours.
They have quite an extensive menu which is always a nightmare for me. There is a large selection of hot and cold dishes, sushi, sashimi and bento boxes. Our waitress was great and recommended how many dishes we should order. We had been thinking of the Sushi Bento Box so she suggested 2 hot dishes to complement that.
The Sushi Bento Box contains Sashimi Salad with Matsuhisa Dressing, Yellowtail Jalapeno, Chirashi Sushi, Prawn Tempura Cut Roll and Miso Soup.
My favourite dish at Nobu was one recommended by our waitress. It was Baby Tiger Prawn Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce. I cannot describe how much I loved this. There were a lot more prawns in this dish than we expected.
