The Shrine of Remembrance is where the main ANZAC Day commemoration takes place in Victoria. The design is based on the ancient Greek buildings such as the Acropolis. The designer felt where the Shrine was going to be built was similar to the area in Athens where the Acropolis is.
The website explains the ideas behind the building. It’s fascinating for the ideas behind why these buildings are designed the way they due to my love of architecture. The Aussie soldiers really identified with the Ancient Greeks which was taken into account with the thoughtful design.
